Day 1 Kathmandu
Flying into Kathmandu is an unforgettable experience with the Himalaya spread out before you. You will be met at the airport on arrival and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 Kathmandu
A full day sightseeing program that includes the main historic and religious sights of Kathmandu.
Kathmandu’s Durbar Square is a constant, teeming mass of life. With over 50 monuments, some dating back to the 12th century, the most famous are the remains of the old Royal Palace and the Kumari Bahal, residence of the living goddess.
On a wooded hill to the west stands the incredible golden-topped stupa of Swayambhunath, dating back at least as far as the 5th century. It is the most sacred of Buddhist sites in Kathmandu and Newari Buddhists are the most fervent devotees.
Tibetan Buddhists are mostly found around the great stupa of Boudhanath – making a holy circumambulation or within the maze of temples and stalls surrounding it.
The Valley’s holiest Hindu temple is equally alive with atmosphere and devotees - Pashupatinath is one of the most sacred shrines to Shiva on the entire subcontinent. It is situated on the banks of the Bagmati River, whose waters offer the same guarantee of release from rebirth as the Ganges. The same promise applies to the dead and this is also ’s most important Hindu cremation site.
Day 3 Bhaktapur - Nagarkot
Bhaktapur, founded in 889, was once capital of the whole Valley. As well as an impressive Durbar Squareand numerous temples, Bhaktapur is famous for its pottery – whole streets are filled with pieces of all shapes and sizes set in the sun to dry.
After lunch transfer to Nagarkot that lies 35 km east of the Kathmandu city located at the elevation of 7200 ft.; which offer 200 miles panorama of the Himalayas of Mt.Everest in the east to Dhaulagiri in the west. Arrive Nagarkot, Hotel Check in. Watch the Sunset and Himalayan view.
Day 4 Patan - Bungamati - Kokana
Patan, once an independent Kingdom, lies only a few kilometers south of Kathmandu, but is quite different in atmosphere. Patan’s Durbar Squarecontains some of the finest Newari urban architecture in all of as well as Hindu and Buddhist monuments.
The villages of Bungamati and Kokana offer a fascinating glimpse of rural life in the Kathmandu Valley. In both villages life takes place more on the streets than inside with villagers spinning, caring for children, gossiping, processing crops in the sun. Wood carving is a tradition alive and strong here and it is possible to see beautiful pieces being produced, including doors and window frames. Bungamati is also one of the two homes of the rain god, Raato Machhendranath. Kokana is particularly renowned as a producer of mustard oil.
Day 5 Kopan
Just north of the ancient Buddhist town of Buddhath is the Kopan hill, rising up out of the terraced fields of the Kathmandu valley and visible for miles. Dominated by a magnificent Bodhi tree, it was one the home of the astrologer to the king of . It was to this hill that these lamas first came with their first Western students in 1969.
Day 6 Pharping
On the road from Kathmandu south to Pharping is a place called Yanglesho. At this place it is said that the great teacher Padmasambhava, or Guru Rimpoche, attained monastery of Mahamudra, the ultimate and supreme attainment. There is a cave where Guru Rimpoche meditated. On the ceiling of this cave, the guru’s hand and head prints are visible.
Day 7 Namobuddha
A short trek through fields and small villages is extremely pleasant and offers an excellent glimpse of rural life and leads to Namobuddha, one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Tibetan Buddhists in the Kathmandu Valley.
Day 8 Mountain flight - Budhanilkantha
One of the best ways to get close to the Himalaya is the mountain flight that takes you alongside the awesome peaks for an hour of exhilarating sightseeing. The mountain flights that take off from Kathmandu provide spectacular close-up views of the eastern Himalayan range while the one from Pokhara takes you on a gorgeous eye -level tour of the western Himalaya.
In the afternoon visit the Vishnu statue at Budhanilkantha was found buried in the ground in its original state. The statue is estirr thousand years old and shows Vishnu lying on the cosmic water before the universe was created. Shuvapul Budhanilkantha and visitors find much peace there. You will be able to observe local people perform puja every day
