Mustang Kingdom Cultural Trekking

Mustang is situated north west of Nepal to the border of Tibet. The Kingdom of mustang gives opportunities to explore living Tibetan Buddhism and cultural heritage.

Flight to Jomsom. Follow the trail above Kali Gandaki-river north to the villages of Chhusang and Chaile. This section is an easy trail. After Chaile a steep ascent leads to a small settlement at Samar. Continue to walk the gradual up and down trail to Syangboche (3800m). Next day descend to Ghilling (3510m). The trail from Ghilling gradually ascends up to a pass Nyi La (the little-known district of Mustang is naturally and culturally attractive, in particular, the origin of Tibet. Tourists in Upper Mustang can opt for the strangely eroded landscape of this remote territory that represents a vibrant mosaic of earth colors- red, yellows, browns and blues. This location is bestowed with ecological diversities, delightful views of snowy peaks, colorful villages, monasteries, ancient palaces. Get connect with NATURE AND EXPERIENCE DIVERSE CULTURE! (3960m) and descend to Tsarang.

The trekking continues to Lomanthang (Capital of Mustang). There are three major groups of villages with historic gompas and caves around Mustang. The fresco painting of thousand Buddhas, hanging thankas (paintings), antique ceiling and, library and other sacred objects are landmarks of its rich history. The cave of Rongbyung Chorten hidden deep in the valley has carvings of many deities on walls.
